Oil Well is (often) quite loose with the accuracy of it's information; however the music quality is as good as their source. Also wrong songwriting credits listed. Oil Well is a budget bootleg label that primarily boots other bootleg labels. Another "oldie but goodie" from the Silver CD era, on the now defunct Oil Well label. This bootleg as front cover has the same picture of another Oil Well release called: "Layla".

At the moment we don't know if Oil Well label released also a copy of  Unsurpassed Clapton Vol. 1 which is the Delaney Mix of Eric's first solo album officially released on the deluxe edition of the first EC album - 2006 Deluxe Edition CD 2 – The Delaney Bramlett Mix plus two tracks recorded at Olympic Studios, London sometime in 11/69.

Summer of 1974
Eric Clapton was a busy man in the summer of 1974. In the US touring his new 461 Ocean Boulevard album since mid-June, the schedule took him on 1 August to Atlanta, and a gig at the Omni Coliseum that became widely celebrated and much-bootlegged among Slowhand aficionados. That was partly because of what happened on stage that night. 24 hours later in Greensboro, North Carolina, it happened again, and another two nights down road in West Palm Beach: Clapton was joined on stage by Pete Townshend and Keith Moon.Clapton’s band featured George Terry as second guitarist, his Derek and the Dominos colleague Carl Radle on bass, Dick Sims on keyboards, Jamie Oldaker on drums and the backing vocals of Yvonne Elliman.

Starting the set with ‘Smile,’ Clapton featured such songs as ‘Let It Grow,’ ‘Willie and the Hand Jive’ and the Cream favourite ‘Badge.’ But as the Atlanta show came to a conclusion, who should appear from the wings but half of The Who. Townshend jammed with Clapton on ‘Layla’ and Moon sang along with Chuck Berry’s ‘Little Queenie,’ performed in a medley with ‘Baby Don’t You Do It.’ Pete then proceeded to smash a plastic ukulele over Eric’s head.

The following night in Greensboro (ticket price: $7.50), Townshend appeared earlier in the set for ‘Hand Jive’ and ‘Get Ready,’ returning with Moon for an encore that included ‘Little Queenie’ as well as ‘Layla’ and ‘Badge.’ The Clapton, Townshend & Moon combination would happen once more, on 4 August, when the tour headed into a break of several weeks with a gig at the West Palm Beach International Raceway. Townshend, Moon and even Joe Walsh were on hand to join in the festivities, including a version of The Who’s ‘Can’t Explain.’ None of those shows have been officially released, but we can give you a taste of Eric’s 1974 tour as it sounded when it reached Hammersmith Odeon that December, with four of the numbers he did during that Atlanta escapade.

That time Pete Townshend and Keith Moon joined Clapton onstage.
From the "with friends like these" files, we tear a page from Eric Clapton's lengthy tour diary to look back on the night drummer Keith Moon and guitarist Pete Townshend of the Who joined him onstage -- and left Clapton with a toy ukulele broken over his head.
On tour behind the recently released 461 Ocean Boulevard, Clapton and crew arrived in Atlanta on Aug. 1, 1974, for an evening at the city's Omni Coliseum. Ticket holders were treated to a set list that included "Let It Grow," "Willie and the Hand Jive" and "Badge" -- plus the surprise addition of Clapton's famous friends Moon and Townshend, who came out to add a little extra star power to "Layla" and "Baby, Don't You Do It."

Moon reportedly sang along during "Little Queenie," and when it was all over, Townshend is said to have smashed a plastic ukulele belonging to drummer "Legs" Larry Smith over Clapton's noggin.
If Clapton was bothered, he didn't let it keep him from inviting the duo back the next night in Greensboro, N.C., announcing his first guest by telling the audience, "And tonight, for your pleasure or my pain, one of the two, the great Pete Townshend." Moon reportedly followed by forcing Smith out of his kit.

The supporting band of this tour was Ross. The concert released in this bootleg is incomplete: the band also performed a cover of Little Queenie by Chuck Berry as encore.
