Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Wonder, 6 October 1967
This is the story of the historic jam session with Stevie Wonder based on testimonies. On 6 October 1967, Jimi Hendrix with the Experience went to the Playhouse Theater in London to record sessions for the BBC radio program Top Gear. Remember Noel Redding: In practice, we at the Experience had already finished recording for the BBC and Mitch Mitchell thought to do, I don't remember what, so he left for a moment ... Stevie Wonder who also had to play that night at the Playhouse, came to us and he simply said "Hi, how are you?" He sat behind the battery and started playing. I'm not sure if Jimi had known him before and agreed to play together, however we also started a jam session, so without even the microphones we started playing an instrumental version of "I was made to love her" one of Stevie's hits. It was really fun, we used to shout each other at the lyrics and continue to laugh.

Remember Bernie Andrews producer of the Top Gear program: Jimi always seemed busted / smoked but in a positive way. He was very kind, cooperative and it was extremely easy to work with him.
Remember Pete Ritzema audio technician for Top Gear: Stevie wanted to play the drums to relax his nerves before being interviewed by Brian Matthew. It happened by chance that Stevie Wonder heard Jimi and Noel strum for a few minutes "I was made to love her", so he went to them and joined the drums. I don't remember Stevie singing, it was rather a very informal thing ... Of Hendrix I had the impression he was a shy boy, kind and always ready to smile. He was very unsure about his vocal qualities and when he had to record the track with his voice, Jimi insisted that screens be mounted around the microphone, because otherwise, he said, Noel and Mitch would have made him laugh.

Complete list of tracks played: I Was Made To Love Her / Ain't Too Proud To Beg - Interview with Jimi, Noel and Mitch by Tommy Vance - The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp - Hound Dog - Intro by Tommy Vance - Little Miss Lover - Experiencing The Blues - Drivin' South - Drivin' South (edited version) - Drivin' South (alternate take)

Generation Club, New York, NY, Apr 15 1968
Tracks 7 and 8 are from BB King's show at the New York, Generation Club, New York, where he is joined by Jimi Hendrix, apparently on 15 April 1968, but the exact date is uncertain. Soundboard recording of the show. This show was a tribute to Martin Luther King, shortly after his assassination.
This show absolutely smokes!

Jimi Hendrix was at the top of this flight in blues progression and it was in 1968 that he was soaking in the New York jam scene unlike any other artist and on the evening of April 15, 1968, Hendrix took to the stage with B.B. King. Paul Butterfield, Elvin Bishop, Al Kooper and many others for one of the world’s greatest blues jams ever captured in a small club setting.
Line-up: BB King - guitar & vocals, Jimi Hendrix - guitar & vocals, Elvin Bishop - guitar, Buzzy Feiten - bass, Paul Butterfield - harmonica. Al Kooper - organ , Philip Wilson - drums, Stuart ? - piano , Don Martin - guitar
